13 going on 30

First Twilight. Then Glee. Now Hunger Games. Based on my likes I'm pretty sure I should actually be in jr high. However I'm not and I'm lucky enough to have people amuse me or join with me (ahem, Kristy and Michelle).

So I started Hunger Games yesterday afternoon. And I finished it last night. I was so engrossed there was a few minutes there I let Max just watch the TV - he still cat naps every once in a while during burping and I was trying to finish a chapter so I let him only to look down to find him wide awake.

Aside from reading Max and I had lots of cuddle time to make up for the time I was gone Saturday.

saturday-ing

Today was a good day. I spent some alone time with my girl this morning after gymnastics. Then Adam and I took off for the city and the bulls game while Sue, Sara, and Dave watched the littles. It was much needed and very much appreciated to have some time to ourselves/with friends. Three under 3 1/2 is hard. But it was just what I needed to get re-energized for raising babies. Although all my good vibes were quickly dashed after I crunched poor Dylan's fingers in the bathroom door no later than 30 seconds after we got home, we recovered. And even though I know the kids will be awake by 6:30 (at the latest) and it's already much too late for me to be awake, I'm ready for tomorrow! See, energized...

baby whisperer

Last night while I was making dinner Max just wouldn't relax unless I was holding him. Adam was on a call when dinner finished up so I had to put Max in the bouncy seat. Enter Dylan. He walked up and turned on the seat to his preferences and I looked down to see Max closing his eyes and sleeping. Granted it only lasted for a minute but it was long enough to get the kids set with some food.

celebrate

Max was baptized today. He was our best baby yet, by far. There were a few pouting moments but not one tear. The bigger kids did great too. Dyl was seconds away from sleeping on Ashley but perked up when he saw the set of snacks I packed. Sammie loved having Grace there to entertain/entertain her. Watching the three of them run around afterwards at lunch was a hoot. Thank you to our family and friends for celebrating with us! We again are reminded how lucky we are to have you in our lives.

smarty pants

Today Sammie started school. Granted it's not technically preschool it was close enough for me. She's going into a class room, hanging her stuff up in a cubby that comes up to my chest, and running off to learn, have fun, make friends. It's a good thing. A great thing. Just another chapter in life. And a little test for us...did we teach her to use her manners even without us there to remind her? To be nice to her new friends? To listen (which we are really nervous about since listening has seemed to have upped and walked out of this house lately)? I may or may not have contracted a form of hives last night thinking about it. Yet drop off went smooth - even if I did have to sneak out as soon as she was distracted by something else - and her cute shy but confident smile when she saw me at pick up was reassurance that this is the right time for her. I saw the next 15 years flash in front of me on the way home as she was telling me what she did (played with the kitchen) and didn't do (babies, blocks) in class. Preschool, k - 8, high school, friends, boyfriends, clubs, sports, homework, jobs, summer vacation, the good and the bad. This is only the begining.

max’s stats

Max was a whopping 9 lbs 9 oz (50%) and 22 inches long (50-75%) yesterday at his appointment! Sammie came with the check out the new dr office, she was a bit shy with the dr but by the end warmed up a bit. As with Dylan she was very interested and protective when the dr was taking a look at our boy. Maxwell was a champ; no shots but the dr was messing with him a bit. Everything looked great : )

boltfamily.net Welcomes Maxwell Michael to the site!

Finally! I made all the edits necessary to the site and Max now has his place among his sister and brother. He will have his own site for at least a year and a half like Dylan. It's a lot of work but it's nice to have a dedicated album to watch them grow month by month.

Looking forward to watching big Max grow by the month on boltfamily.net

one month

Already!  Max is settling into a sort of routine although he did try to kill me a few days this week barely sleeping at all during the day.  He's not as easy going as Dylan was but not quiet as high maintenance as Sammie was.  I'll have the one month stats tomorrow since he has another appointment.  I love this little cuddle bug more and more each day.

ole blue eyes and the gang

Max has the prettiest blue eyes I've ever seen; they're a steely gray blue.  I'm not used to a blue eyed baby since the other two came out with brown so I'm loving this.  I got some good photos of it yesterday.  What's that you say?  Photos?  Yes, yes we have taken a ridiculous amount but Adam is crazy busy, CRAZY, so he's yet to be able to have a second to post them.  They'll go up asap so for now you'll just have to take my word that this kid is adorable.

As for the other two they are doing great.  We often get asked how the kids are doing with Max.  They are great, so great in fact that we have to keep a close eye on them because they are both what I would call smotherers.  Always wanting to kiss and hug and touch and be by him.  It's hard because I don't want to discourage it but sometimes I feel like it's Lenny or who ever that guy was from the Grapes of Wrath or whatever that book is, they just squeeze and squeeze and squeeze.  Aside from all the love we are all a bit stir crazy.  We've been to the store but I've yet to bring them somewhere where I can't keep Dylan contained in a cart.  They need a place to burn this energy but it'll have to wait until Adam and I can go for the first time so I can get a feel for it.  So for now we settle for visitors for new faces to see ; )

Things are definitely good.
