glitter glitter everywhere
Dylan climbed out of his crib last night. And again during Max's bath time this morning. Normally I toss him in with a few books and he's content. Not anymore apparently. Added to the fact that Samantha decided she needed to do her make up during bath time, even after I told her no, let's just say Max's room and Dylan took the brunt of it. Glitter head to toe, glitter on the floor, the dresser, the closet door, the pictures I painted for Max's room that are still on the floor, etc etc. I didn't handle glitter gate 2012 as well as I could have but with a tired screaming 3 month old and a toddler who would not stop touching everything with his glitter hands it was all I could do not to cry too. I wish now I would have taken a picture but I was in a hurry to clean and get Max to nap. Already I can look back and smile at my stupidity, their zest for life. Or at least that's what we'll call it, zest.
life as we know it
*Dyl had what I would call his first full blown tantrum today. Hard not to just hug him because he's so darn cute even when he's being mini drop and bang. After drying to defuse, then ignore, I tried distraction. Luckily he'd gotten enough out of his system it worked. Who knew stickers on your socks could be so funny.
*Max likes to boycott sleep in the afternoons. That's all I have to say about that. He's also filling out the 3-6 month onesies much better than I anticipated.
*Samantha is back to her excited for school moods. After vacation I dealt with a bit of tears and "I don't want to go to school" days. Luckily she ran right in today and barely said good bye : )
the voice
It's confirmed. Samantha inherited my lovely singing voice. Adam is thrilled. : |
She also inherited my habit of making up random songs. They are some gems.
smooshed
Poor Dylan. He's had these adorable green gym shoes since November and it's gotten harder and harder to get them on him. Today we went shopping and stopped for shoes. Big guy was measured at 8 wide. While we were waiting for the sales lady to bring the shoes we picked Adam checked out the green shoes. Size 6 1/2. Say what!? Whoopsies.
note: We've been schooled, must get him measured every 3 months.
dilly dills
I don't even know where to start with this kid. He is hilarious, sweet, sensitive, mischievous, curious, loving, smart, etcetera etcetera etcetera. Today during school pick up he did the usual; run to the door screaming sammie even though the doors are still closed. Touch and open the garbage can (gag me!). Climb on and off the little chairs a million times. And today while I was answering someone's question about how he does with Max he walked over to me and said "wuv you" and bear hugged my legs. Seriously? Seriously? I love this age on him. He seems much older than almost 2 to me probably for the sole fact he's way more vocal than Sam was at this stage. And speaking of 2 the birthday party planning has begun!
easter 2012
Happy Easter indeed. After an early -EARLY- morning wake up we did the egg and basket hunt and a little breakfast. Later in the day we went to Ken and Poohie's to celebrate with the family; we are very thankful for the many easter gifts the kids got. Thank you : ) We rounded out the day at my parents for some more dessert. Because, really, it isn't a holiday unless you have a stomachache ; )
big news
Our girl got hitched today. To her brother. Lol. I was getting everyone ready for a walk into town when Samantha insisted she wear her princess gown right away. I asked her why and she told me she was getting married, to her Dylan. So on the dress went and next she made sure he was dressed to the nine with his blinged out cross necklace on and off to the kitchen they went. The wedding was capped off with a couple rounds of ring around the rosie and that was that.
ban off
I'm lifting the play doh ban tomorrow - only for Samanatha. She misses it. I miss seeing her creativity with it. Hopefully my slippers will remain play doh less or else the ban will be back on.
ideas
I'm struggling during nap time here. When I was pg with Max it was easier to find things for Samantha and I to do together...crafts, learning, playing outside, etc. But now with Max's still unpredictable schedule (meaning how long naps last) I'm running into problems with activities. I got into a bad habit at the end of my pregnancy and when Max was brand new of letting Sam watch a tv show. It morphed into two shows and it's still an afternoon pastime. It's just a pain to be in the middle of a craft or getting dirty outside and then have to stop in the middle and run in to get Max. And yes it would have to stop...I left her alone for 5 seconds with a pair of scissors during our holiday crafting and she ended up cutting her shirt. Just because. I have a few ideas in the back of my head I just need to follow through. This is my way of holding myself accountable. I'll check back here in a week and let you know if we did it!
Random tidbit: During ski school sign up they asked Sam what she wanted to be called during class. Adam said she answered Samantha. I did a little victory cheer because I always wanted her to be Sam or Samantha in school. I was a little surprised and I know she may change her mind and that's fine, but I just found it interesting.
colorado 2012
We did it! There was a few days a week before the trip that I had a meltdown and said I wasn't going. I didn't want to travel via road all the way there with a 3 month old. I didn't want to chance totally messing up his night time sleep. I was just overwhelmed with traveling with a baby on top of the other two maniacs. But I got my wits about me and am so glad we did this trip together! First vacation as family of 5, check!
We're slowly getting back into the groove of things. It doesn't help that Max caught whatever it was I had out there and sounds like a 80 year old smoker but even then he's my smiley little dude. I've got a busy week ahead getting ready for Easter but very excited. I love having a chance to make them fun for the kids.
