This little dude is going to eat us out of a house before we even own another one! He's moving right along trying new foods; so far we've tried sweet potatoes, acorn squash, bananas, green beans, apples, pears, and butternut squash. He's also randomly tried white potatoes and bread. He normally eats 3-4 cubes of food in a sitting, sometimes more, sometimes less but rarely. We're at an impass with milk. I think 6 months might be my internal limit or something; I can't be sure but I think he's not getting enough from nursing any more. So today I'm giving him bottles of pumped milk trying to see if he sleeps better at night because currently he's waking up three times to eat. Three. Mama is tired. We'll see!
godzilla and apples
I wanted to try and sort through Samantha's clean laundry before her next nap so I put her on a blanket in her room and brought the laundry in there to do on the floor. She decided she wanted to help me. Help me by knocking down the stacks of clothes and literally throwing her socks all over the room. She was so cute each time she did something, looking up at me and smiling, even when I told her she was being godzilla. When we were done we played for a bit and started putting the toys away. The last thing to put away was the blanket and I pretended to wrap her up like my mom used to do to me. She got a kick out of it, laughing every time I put the blanket over her head. She smiles more and more each day, adding in longer and longer giggle spells. She thought it was hilarious when I put my coat over her head to protect her from the rain on they way in to target. There's nothing better to brighten up your day than that huge smile she's got, especially when it's directed at you. She's got my heart wrapped around her.
This morning we made apples! I'd say it was a success. First she started pushing them out but pretty quickly started sucking them back in. I'm trying to decide what to do on Friday...one more fruit before back to veggies or try another veggie. If you have any suggestions let me know! To make comments on the blog there is a register tab. avocado – fail
After bananas I was going to give Samantha pears. All my books say to buy organic pears because they are super porous and suck in the pesticides and I have yet to buy them. Not wanting to stall too long on a new fruit I decided to give Samantha avocados. So far it's not going so well. She mushes them around in her mouth and then pushes them back out. We're onto day two and because we're not quitters we are going to try once more tomorrow.
However, put an envelope in front of her and you'll take it back a minute later soaked and missing a corner.
EDIT: LOL, I just started freaking out that she was going to choke on the missing paper. Never mind the fact that she's been fine all day long. I finally showed Adam the envelope and did an inspection. She didn't eat it, she folded it down. Phew, I thought we were only one step away from having a paste eater on our hands.
Aftershocks of shots
Samantha was not herself today. I thought she was going to be sleepy all day because her first nap ran past an hour and I think the only reason she woke up is because I banged something in the kitchen. But after that first nap she wouldn't sleep in her crib. She fell asleep twice while feeding and I let her take a nap on me the first time. Fearing I would screw her up for the night I tried to put her in the crib the second time she fell asleep on me after eating. Of course she woke up. Good news is that she went down for Adam great.
The first day of attempting two solids meals = fail. I tried giving her some carrots this morning and she wanted nothing to do with it. While I was at Target around dinner Adam gave her some peas. She ate some but he said she wasn't too eager for them. I'm making more rice cereal tomorrow so hopefully we'll do that in the morning with fruit (once we start fruit) and then a veggie at night. I'm excited to start sweet potatoes so I may just do it tomorrow for dinner.
Mom and Dad leave tomorrow for Colorado. We are totally bummed out that we aren't going. Totally bummed. I wish it was going to be Samantha's first vacation so bad, especially since I have so many good memories there and Adam had a blast last year. It's the perfect place for us to have an annual trip. It would have been fun to tell Samantha she went every single winter she was little. Ugh. I have to believe that we'll(I'll) find a way to get us there no matter what next winter.
