christmas 2010

Now that we are clear into January I figured it's the perfect time for some of my Christmas favs (all can be seen here or here).

Plain and simple, she is awesome.

Mesmerized by the wrapping paper.

A rare family photo.

happy new year

Adam and I welcomed the new year in with some friends while the kids were sleeping soundly at G&G Bolt's (at least for a little while).  2010 was a good year for our family, a different year, but good.  We anticipated Dylan's arrival, went on Samantha's first real vacation, welcomed Dylan May 19th, and by July 15th were living at my parents house.  In the next few days I will hopefully have a Christmas and 2010 photo recap, but for now, Happy New Year family and friends!

ho ho (aka santa)

Yea, it looks like Dylan is wearing capris.  I know.  I swear my kid wears pants during the winter.

christmas fun for all

Christmas was a blast!  Samantha enjoyed almost every minute of it and Dylan got the hang of opening gifts by the third round of Christmas cheer.  Many many pictures to upload of all the fun.

the man in red

We saw, we sat, we cheesed, we conquered!  Santa this year was much better than last year.  After train pick up today we went to Bass Pro to see the big guy.  After walking around and a bit of waiting it was our turn.  She was a little unsure so Santa was slow to move and slow to speak, but her repeated "hiiiiiiiiiii, hiiiiiiiiii" was so cute, half between a cry and a laugh.  I thought maybe we'd just take the picture with her standing in front of him but she let Butch put her in his lap, success!  Santa was still trying to make friends so I waited a second to put Dylan down, who quiet frankly could have cared less.  He just wanted to sleep.  And after two days of asking what she was going to tell Santa she wanted for Christmas it was so great to see her say it to him and not be scared or too shy.

tis the season

A weekend full of family and friends; that's what makes the holidays and I think we showed the kids this weekend.  Friday Tia and Ryan welcomed their little babies, Tessa and Bryce!!  Adam held down the fort while I went with the Joneses to love on the littles at the hospital Saturday afternoon.   They are perfect.  Please think of and say a little prayer for the Shermans as settle into life at home, what a merry Christmas!  Yesterday the kids hung out with G&G Bolt while Adam and I did a little shopping of the Christmas kind and the house kind.  Then it was off to the annual Danford holiday party!  Always fun, always good memories.  Now we bunker down at home while I squeeze in errands when I can to finish holiday shopping, enjoy Beth's visit, and soak up the picturesque Christmas week we're getting with the snow tonight, yea!

wishful thinking

Samantha obviously feels like St Nick should be a weekly event; before her bath tonight she put her shoes outside her bedroom door.  Ha!

o christmas tree

Today was blistery cold...a perfect day for setting up the rest of the Christmas tree.  Like last year, we had great intentions of knocking it out in a day.  And like last year, that didn't happen.  But today we had extra special helpers as my aunts were visiting all day so they assisted while Samantha ran ornaments from the box to the tree.  By the end of the day Aunt Sue had a new little 30 lb shadow and I was so happy to have spent time with Aunt DeDe catching up.  Such a nice day with family, I really wish Sam would be able to remember days like this.

not looking good

I really wish I had a camera because no explanation will do this justice.  Mom and I were playing with Samantha in her room after dinner when Adam appeared at the door with my mom's glow up Santa that she puts on the front stoop.  Sam's eyes bulged while the rest of her face went limp.  After several attempts to get her to come say hello to Santa which included me hugging him, she went to hide behind my mom.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say meeting Santa at the mall is going to be very very similar to last year.
